Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The Sin City Chapter of the BMW CCA hosted this driving school at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on August 21 and 22, 1999. It was HOT. HOT, HOT, HOT! No, it was even hotter than that. Much hotter.

The heat was mitigated, though, because we were able to rent space in the garage, which provided shade and swamp coolers. With the swamp coolers running full blast, parts of the garage were under 90 degrees and breezy. That helped a lot.

Phil Landman of BMW NA was my instructor on Saturday, and Tino Saloomen coached me on Sunday. They were both very helpful and knowledgeable guys. The video is from Sunday's session, so Tino is in the passenger seat.

Here are some photos.

And here is the video. It's one complete lap around the course. Choose your resolution and your download time. No audio, sorry.

Which one do you want? A 33.6 Kbps modem takes about 5 minutes to transfer a megabyte. So, the 5 Mb video would take nearly half an hour to download, and the 22 Mb would take two hours. With a dedicated T1, you can suck up the 22 Mb video in under 15 seconds.
